This past weekend Mireille Bertrand, Founder and Creative Director of Maquillage Makeup Academy, went to Atlanta to teach a two-day advanced makeup workshop at Mi Studio Salon.
The makeup industry is currently on the rise in Atlanta, with jobs opening up in Bridal, Film and Television productions. Maquillage held an intensive two-day workshop for makeup artists and cosmetologist on all Bridal and Multimedia makeup techniques.
The Advanced Multimedia Workshop was designed to ensure that any artist who completes our workshop is prepared for a career in media. The class highlighted makeup for Commercial, TV production, as well as a full day of Music Video makeup and artist development.
Students were eager to learn about the West Coast and East Coast Film & TV industry especially as it pertained to the development in Atlanta. They all are beauty professionals and are interested being involved in the "New Media industry" that is booming in Atlanta. There was a lot of enthusiasm about attending more workshops, especially in Character and SFX, in order to become more active in the movie industry and joining the East Coast Union.
One of the students has already gotten in contact with CNN in order to work there as a make-up artist. Mireille was aware that they were hiring, so she was able to introduce the student to a lead make-up artist at CNN. Mireille is also expanding her relationships with a few TV stations’ working artists in order to refer students.
Mireille Bertrand is a veteran of the European fashion and beauty scene and recognized by her peers and leaders in the field as one of the finest artists in the industry today. With over twenty years in the industry, Mireille’s experience runs the gamut of makeup and hair design and application for performers, actors, models, print and electronic media. Her passion for the art of makeup and fashion is contagious and her experience is extensive—and this is what she imparts on her students at Maquillage Makeup Academy!
Along with Mireille, other workshop leaders were celebrity makeup artists LaNae Garcia (besides fashion and film and TV, she does charity work like the Miss Asia America Pageant/Japan Relief Fund) and Curtis William Foreman (his A-list clients have included Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim Kardashian, and Margaret Cho), as well as several special guest speakers.
If you missed this great event, don’t worry—Maquillage Makeup Academy is going to be doing a lot more workshops and classes in Atlanta! In fact, Michelle Alderman Napier, one of our students, will be a guest teacher during our future workshops in 2016.
We are also planning to do a celebrity fashion show in Atlanta next year with Sheena Mi Lee Salon and one of our graduate students.
